Today, I say farewell to my position as Press
Secretary and stay as Presidential Spokesperson and Presidential Adviser on
Political Adviser as well. To all of you I say, I leave with the heavy heart
but not without the pressure jest full of fond memories. The
responsibilities that comes with the job, I delegate with the mandate and
challenging in terms of waking up early in the morning to greet the news
cycle that had begins, for every information, information … at the right
place at the right time. It also requires the working knowledge of and
profound respect on how the press work. As a former newsman, it was a
privilege for me to be at the other side of defense of the President as a
Press Secretary. This position as Press Secretary and Presidential Spokesperson require the full craft of my principal, the President, in the cooperation of my colleagues, in the Cabinet and other agencies. I would like to thank Her Excellency, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, for her trust and confidence and for the great honor and rare opportunity to serve her and to serve our country during this challenging times. To my Undersecretaries and all the OPS staff I am very grateful beyond words to the remarkable work that they have done and I am confident you will continue to do. Now, I would like to address the Malacanang Press Corps for the last time of the out-going Press Secretary, to the Malacanang Press Corps led by its President Paolo Romero, I will wish you text messages, all urgent of calls,… your deadline.I will wish the bundle of laughters this come….in the press briefings and ambush interviews that characterize the more formal style of professional side of our relationships. The serious side I now bequate to my successor, Secretary Jess Dureza. That I hope Secretary Dureza to lead the members of the Malacanang Press Corps, won’t mind, by keeping the friendship that I had built over time in this office. Today, I close the chapter in my life ….the page in …loving grace of God’s, I go but not without leaving you my version of an old favorite song, MY WAY. |
